On April 10th and 11th Meegan, Michael, Grace, Phil, Lucy, Ange and Tracy went on a camping trip to Maria Island. The main purpose was for a nice getaway for the Easter break but we also wanted to catch up with park rangers Pete and Donna Lee to let them know we would be interested in going back sometime to do some work for them.
Meegan, Michael, Grace and Phil went for a walk up Bishop and Clerk which was a 4 hour return hike (see photo) while Tracy, Lucy and Ange spent most of the time sitting around the camp site enjoying the nice weather, watching the potoroos and Cape Barron geese and nursing Ange’s sprained ankle which she did on the ferry on the way over (see photo). Lucy and Tracy also went and explored the painted cliffs.
We plan to return to Maria Island in the warmer months to do some “broom control” with the friends of Maria which will involve cutting and pasting or hand pulling this plant to remove it.
