Coming Up
Session #5: Wednesday 25th January – Mentor training session

Project Overview
This project is a joint initiative between the Rotary Club of City Central Hobart and the local Red Cross. The purpose is to support refugees based in Tasmania to find paid employment and volunteer work and to assist in making career choices. It is designed to help them overcome the barriers that exist for people from other cultures in how to find, look for and gain meaningful employment. The project is focused on aiding in learning job searching skills rather than directly finding work.

We had our first session of the Migrant Job Club on Thursday 8 September, and it was a great success!

Several participants expressed a desire for help with cv development, interview skills, and job searching from someone with knowledge of local culture and networks.

We are always seeking local employers, employees or anyone from various industries including hospitality, IT, construction, engineering or human services, who might be interested in speaking to the group on their chosen fields, or participating in our mentor program. See the contact details below for those interested in volunteering their time or expertise.

Rob Valentine MP and member of the Rotary Club of Hobart, is a passionate supporter of this project. On 16 August 2016 he made a Parliamentary address in support of this project and to spread the word. You can read the transcript of this address here.
